The above images are different variations of the edit I made which was inspired by the photograph of the woman who has half of her face, and half of a skull face.

Image 1: Subtract

I used Substract for the image in the top left corner, from the Exposure Effect drop down menu. I like how the skull stands out, and I think the darkness of the skull almost suggests the dark side/evil side of a person, whereas the white normal side is pure and pale, suggesting a good side. I don't like the join on this, I think I could have blended it more, and made the eye more visible.

Image 2: Difference

I used Difference for the image in the top right corner, from the Exposure Effect drop down menu. I would have liked the edit better if my eye would have been slightly covered by the skull's eye. I dislike the join between the skull and the face, I think if I would have erased the skull layer a tiny bit around the join, to make it look more blended in, it would have looked better.

Image 3: Darker Colour

I used Darker Colour for the image in the bottom left corner, from the Exposure Effect drop down menu. I like this edit, because the skull almost looks like it has been drawn on, and one half of my face isn't visible, which was the effect that I was looking for.

Image 4: Hard Light

I used Hard Light for the image in the bottom right corner, from the Exposure Effect drop down menu. I like the faded look of it, and I think the join looks good. However I would like the nose to have been visible.

Image 5: Linear Burn

I used Linear Burn for the largest image in the middle, from the Exposure Effect drop down menu. I think this is one of my favourite effects for this piece of work. The skull looks dark, but not too dark, and both the skull eye and my eye are visible, which I think looks quite good, rather than there being a black space from the skull eye.

I made this image on photoshop based on the image of the woman with the blank face on my Identity Ideas page. I made the image by adding a background layer of filled white, then I erased my face. Then I added a black outline with the Pen tool, I made the tool black, and I made the line 3px. Then I added some text with the Text tool, and used a font what looked similar to the one on the image I used as inspiration.

I made the above image the same way I did the one above in Photoshop. I like this one better because it has the full face on it, and the text looks more central. I dislike the way the frame of my glasses is still prominent on the right hand side, however if I would have erased it, it would have been white outside of the border.

The image on the left is an image I made when playing about with Photoshop, I used the animal and human image as an influence, which is on my Identity Ideas page. I like the idea of it, but I don't like how the edges of the boxes fade out, rather than being a straight line. However I could easily recreate another one and try different effects and animals.

I basically made this by getting different animal parts (noses/ears) and edited them into black and white, then added a newspaper texture behind them, then added them into the image of myself in the correct place, and adjusted the size of them to make them appropriate with my proportions. I also did the same with my eyes and mouth, but filled another layer with grey, then flattened the image and added them back in, covering the original image.

I made the image on the right in Photoshop, and based it off of the image of the broken mirror on my Identity Ideas page. I used different colours in each 'shard' to represent different emotions: red being anger; blue being sadness; green being jealousy; yellow being happiness and orange being anxious.

I started off with a self portrait, made it black and white, then I used the Polygon Lasso Tool and made different segments, then made them a different layer using 'Layer using Copy'. Then once I had all of the different layers, I deleted the original self portrait. I added a background layer with a grey colour to fill the background.

Once I had all of the seperate layers, and the background layer, I went into each layer and went into 'Hue & Saturation' and made all of the different layers into different colours.

I do like this image, however I think it would have looked better if I would have used something else as the background. However, black and white caused too much contrast between the background and the actual image, so I used grey. But I think there is too much grey in the image.
